En el momento de escribir esta entrada y poner a disposición de mis amigos despiertos esta inquietante y muy futurista película ya son nada menos que 50 años los que han pasado desde que fue lanzada a los cines. Es increíble que algunas de las cosas que se ven en este film tengan un cierto parecido a lo que estamos padeciendo o empezando a padecer en estos tiempos, sobre todo en lo que respecta a la CARNE y la ALIMENTACION en general de una raza humana futura. Aunque te parezca muy viejuna (que lo es) es bastante entretenida de ver y el final es algo que no te vas a esperar… Disfrutala y comenta tus impresiones si tienes ganas cuando la acabes!.
SINOPSIS
En 2022, la Tierra está superpoblada y completamente contaminada; los recursos naturales se han agotado y el sustento de la población lo proporciona Soylent Industries, una empresa que fabrica un alimento compuesto por plancton de los océanos. En la ciudad de Nueva York, cuando William R. Simonson, miembro del consejo de Soylent, es asesinado, aparentemente por un ladrón en el Chelsea Towers West donde vive, el eficiente detective Thorn es asignado para investigar el caso con su compañero Solomon «Sol» Roth. Thorn llega al lujoso apartamento y se encuentra con el guardaespaldas de Simonson, Tab Fielding, y la «decoración» (una mujer que se alquila junto con el piso) Shirl, y el detective concluye que el ejecutivo no fue víctima de un robo, sino que fue ejecutado. Además, descubre que el Gobernador Santini y otros hombres poderosos quieren obstaculizar y poner fin a la investigación de Thorn. Sin embargo, Thorn continúa su trabajo y descubre un secreto extraño y perturbador sobre el ingrediente utilizado para fabricar Soylent Green.

In 2022, Earth is overpopulated and totally polluted; the natural resources have been exhausted, and the nourishment of the population is provided by Soylent Industries, a company that makes a food consisting of plankton from the oceans. In New York City, when Soylent's member of the board, William R. Simonson, is murdered, apparently by a burglar at the Chelsea Towers West where he lives, efficient Detective Thorn is assigned to investigate the case with his partner Solomon "Sol" Roth. Thorn comes to the fancy apartment and meets Simonson's bodyguard Tab Fielding and the "furniture" (woman that is rented together with the flat) Shirl and the detective concludes that the executive was not a burglary victim but executed. Further, he finds that the Governor Santini and other powerful men want to disrupt and end Thorn's investigation. But Thorn continues his work and discovers a bizarre, disturbing secret of the ingredient used to manufacture Soylent Green.
